About Nathanael Ankeny
Nathanael Ankeny is a professional saxophonist, bandleader, and music educator.
As an active musician, Nathanael performs regularly in the greater Portland area with jazz combos and leads the Chehalem Jazz Trio. You can hear him every month at the Allison Inn and Spa in Newberg. He has performed with the Spokane Symphony, the Spokane Jazz Orchestra, the Bob Curnow Big Band, and the Portland Wind Symphony.
Nathanael holds degrees in jazz and classical performance from Whitworth University and a Master’s degree in Jazz from Eastern Washington University. He is an Associate Professor of Music at George Fox University where he teaches courses in jazz, aural skills, music theory, and directs the university’s Jazz Ensemble. He has taught private saxophone and improvisation lessons for over a decade.
